All of you is welcome here

Somatic Art Therapy

Create and move your way to freedom

Hello! My name is Kae. I'm a queer and neurodivergent somatic art psychotherapist.

I provide trauma-sensitive therapy for neurodivergent adults who may also have experienced relational trauma (CPTSD), who have complex inner worlds (including OCD), or who experience grief or oppression. I actively welcome LGBTQIA+ clients. I especially welcome those who are trans, working class, or minoritised.

I provide: one-to-one online art therapy; walk-and-talk and eco-art therapy; somatic inquiry and movement; trauma-sensitive meditation and mindfulness; trauma-aware Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP); and coaching.

In sessions, we may explore the complexities of neurodivergence for autistic and ADHD individuals (either diagnosed or self-identified); work towards finding compassion; access empowerment to make any changes you need in your environment; find self-acceptance and release shame; or co-create solutions to release any coping mechanisms that you no longer want or need.

Professional services include: consultation; personal therapy for trainees; staff wellbeing; team building; and expressive art groups.

I originally trained in psychodynamic art psychotherapy, which means I work at depth and with the unconscious; and I understand and work with attachment, and explore the impact of early-life experiences. I completed rigorous training over six years, including more than 1,000 hours of psychodynamic personal therapy.

Since registering with the HCPC in 2018, I have continued my education in anti-oppressive practices, holding space ethically, somatic enquiry and movement, and meditation and mindfulness.

As an artist and musician, I have worked across a variety of settings, in schools, higher education, libraries, arts organisations, grassroots programmes, community settings, recovery programmes, and mental health crisis centres across Merseyside and Cheshire.

As an art psychotherapist, I have worked within children’s social care, a rape crisis service, the third sector, and the private sector.

I started my own practice in 2021 after discovering that my neurodivergent mind and body work best when I can be my own boss. However, I do love to collaborate and have been blessed to work with wonderful organisations such as Chester Sexual Abuse Support Service, Fallen Angels, and Cafe 71/Spider Project.

I have co-ordinated BAAT regional meetings, in person and online, and presented at a conference for Creative Counsellors.

As a white-bodied therapist, I continue to decolonise my practice and deconstruct the white supremacy within my own body and mind, and to challenge the racism and white supremacy of the therapy room.

Alongside art therapy or as a standalone practice, we can integrate the following modalities in which I am trained:

  • Emotional Freedom Technique (meridian psychology and tapping).

  • Sensorimotor art therapy.

  • Somatic inquiry and movement.

  • Meditation and mindfulness.

If you believe we would be a good fit to work together, please book an introductory call here. This call is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, discuss your needs and goals, and see if we are a good match for your therapeutic journey.
